VATSIM's flagship Cross the Pond event returns on October 24, 2026, connecting Europe and North America with over 2,000 pilots. This edition introduces dynamic oceanic tracks and expanded ATC coverage.

VATSIM has announced that its flagship oceanic event, Cross the Pond, will take place on October 24, 2026, with departures from Europe between 10:00 and 14:00 UTC. This edition is expected to draw over 2,000 pilots and 300 controllers, making it one of the largest online flying events of the year. The event will use a new dynamic oceanic track system that updates NAT tracks in real time based on simulated winds and traffic demand, a first for VATSIM.

Pilots can expect full ATC coverage from major European hubs including EGLL, EHAM, EDDF, LFPG, and LEMD, as well as North American arrivals into KJFK, KBOS, KORD, CYYZ, and KATL. The event also features expanded oceanic sectors, with dedicated controllers handling the North Atlantic Track system. RNAV 1 and RNP 4 requirements remain in effect, and pilots must be equipped with CPDLC and ADS-B for oceanic clearance.

To accommodate the increased traffic, VATSIM has implemented a new slot booking system that opens on October 10. Pilots are encouraged to file accurate equipment codes and be prepared for full oceanic procedures, including position reporting and SELCAL checks. The event will be streamed live on VATSIM's Twitch channel with commentary from real-world airline pilots. As always, proper phraseology and adherence to speed and altitude restrictions are mandatory.
