VATSIM's flagship Cross the Pond event returns on October 17, 2026, with over 2,500 pilots expected to fly between Europe and North America. The event will feature full ATC coverage and realistic oceanic clearances.
VATSIM has announced that its bi-annual Cross the Pond event will take place on October 17, 2026, with a record 2,500 pilots expected to participate. The event simulates the real-world transatlantic flow, with departures from major European hubs such as London Heathrow (EGLL), Amsterdam Schiphol (EHAM), and Frankfurt (EDDF) to North American destinations including New York JFK (KJFK), Toronto Pearson (CYYZ), and Chicago O'Hare (KORD). Full ATC coverage will be provided along the North Atlantic Tracks (NATs), including oceanic clearances and position reports.
Pilots can expect realistic oceanic procedures, including SELCAL checks, HF radio simulation, and reduced vertical separation minimum (RVSM) compliance. The event will also feature a dedicated operations desk for handling reroutes and weather deviations. VATSIM has published preferred routing and slot times to manage traffic flow, with departures spaced every 90 seconds.
For serious simmers, this is an opportunity to test long-range navigation and fuel planning. The event supports both MSFS 2024 and X-Plane 12, with recommended aircraft including the PMDG 777-300ER, iniBuilds A350-1000, and FlightFactor 767-400ER. Pilot registration opens on October 1 via the VATSIM website. Expect crowded frequencies and bring your A-game.
