VATSIM's Cross the Pond event returns on November 7, 2026, with a record 3,000 pilots expected. The event will feature updated oceanic routing and new procedures for RNP 4 and ADS-C.
VATSIM has announced that the next edition of Cross the Pond (CTP), scheduled for November 7, 2026, will be the largest ever, with over 3,000 pilots expected to participate. The event, which traditionally connects North America and Europe, will this year feature updated oceanic routes and a renewed focus on PBN procedures, including RNP 4 and ADS-C (Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Contract) simulation.
According to the VATSIM events team, the new routing aims to reduce controller workload and improve realism. "We've worked closely with real-world oceanic controllers to design a more efficient flow," said a VATSIM spokesperson. "This year, pilots can expect to use ADS-C for position reporting and will be required to adhere to strict RNP 4 navigation performance." The event will also see the debut of a new slot booking system, which should streamline departure clearance delivery.
CTP remains one of the most challenging and rewarding events for virtual pilots, requiring careful fuel planning, ETOPS considerations, and proficiency with oceanic procedures. The 2026 edition will include departures from several North American hubs, including KJFK, KORD, and CYYZ, with arrivals into major European airports such as EGLL, LFPG, and EDDF. A full list of city pairs and slot times will be released in late October.
For those planning to participate, VATSIM recommends thorough preparation, including familiarity with SELCAL checks, HF radio procedures, and contingency planning. The event is expected to fill up quickly, and pilots are advised to book their slots early. As always, CTP is a testament to the community's dedication to realism and cooperation.
