Four aerobatic planes perform in perfect formation, leaving smoke trails in the sky.

VATSIM and Navigraph have formalized a partnership to bring fully integrated charts and navdata into the upcoming VATSIM pilot client. The collaboration aims to streamline pre-flight planning and in-flight navigation for virtual air traffic control enthusiasts.

In a move that will delight virtual aviators, VATSIM and Navigraph have announced a strategic partnership to integrate Navigraph Charts and navigation data directly into the long-awaited VATSIM pilot client. This integration will allow pilots to access terminal procedures, approach plates, and moving map displays without leaving the simulation environment, reducing the need for secondary devices or browsers.

The new client, currently in beta, will feature a built-in browser that loads Navigraph charts contextually based on the aircraft's position and flight plan. This includes SID/STARs, RNP approaches, and airport diagrams, all synced with the pilot's route. Navigraph's navdata will also power the client's built-in flight planning tool, ensuring accurate waypoints and airways.

VATSIM's leadership emphasized that this partnership is just the beginning, with further integrations planned for future updates. The client is expected to enter public beta later this year, with a full release following after community feedback. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the virtual ATC ecosystem, promising a more cohesive experience for pilots and controllers alike.
