TFDi Design has shared new previews of its MD-11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, showcasing the advanced systems simulation, including the MD-11's automatic flight control system and LSAS. The aircraft is expected to enter beta testing in early 2027.

TFDi Design has released a new set of preview images and technical details for its highly anticipated McDonnell Douglas MD-11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The previews, shared on the company's Discord server, highlight the aircraft's advanced systems simulation, particularly the Longitudinal Stability Augmentation System (LSAS) and the automatic flight control system (AFCS). The MD-11, known for its demanding handling characteristics, will feature a flight model developed with input from real-world MD-11 pilots, according to TFDi.

The cockpit previews show a highly detailed recreation of the MD-11's glass cockpit, with functional PFD, ND, and EICAS displays. The team has also modeled the aircraft's unique systems logic, including the automatic slat/flap control and the fuel transfer system. TFDi has confirmed that the aircraft will support Navigraph navdata and SimBrief integration from day one, and will include a custom EFB for performance calculations and checklist management.

One of the most interesting aspects of the project is the attention to the MD-11's idiosyncrasies. The aircraft's tendency to pitch up on flap retraction, for example, is being carefully replicated through the flight model and LSAS logic. TFDi has also implemented a detailed simulation of the CF6-80C2 engines, including FADEC and thrust rating modes.

No release date has been announced, but TFDi indicates that the MD-11 will enter beta testing in early 2027, with a release targeted for late 2027. Given the complexity of the aircraft and TFDi's reputation for high-quality add-ons, this is one to watch for long-haul enthusiasts. The MD-11 will join a growing lineup of widebody airliners for MSFS 2024, including PMDG's 777 and iniBuilds' A350.
