PMDG has launched its highly anticipated 737-800 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, featuring a revamped flight model, improved FMS, and a new electronic flight bag. The release includes the 737-800, 737-900, and 737-900ER variants.

PMDG has officially released its Boeing 737-800 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, marking the first airliner from the developer for the new platform. The package includes the 737-800, 737-900, and 737-900ER, with the 737-700 expected in a subsequent update. This release follows months of beta testing and promises significant advancements in system fidelity and integration with MSFS 2024's new atmospheric and lighting engine.

The aircraft features a completely rebuilt flight model that leverages MSFS 2024's improved aerodynamics, offering more accurate handling characteristics, particularly in the low-speed regime and during approach. The FMS has been updated to include RNP AR approach capability, and the autopilot now supports fully coupled LNAV/VNAV with improved path smoothing. The EFB has been redesigned with a new user interface, performance calculation tools, and Navigraph charts integration.

According to PMDG, the 737-800 for MSFS 2024 also includes an updated sound package recorded from real aircraft, with dynamic engine sounds and cockpit ambiance. The virtual cockpit has been enhanced with higher-resolution textures and improved wear and tear effects. Additionally, the aircraft supports MSFS 2024's new failure system, allowing for realistic emergency scenarios.

Existing owners of the MSFS 2020 version will be able to upgrade for a fee, with details to be announced on the PMDG forums. The release is available now via the PMDG website and the MSFS Marketplace. Early reports from the community highlight the aircraft's smooth performance and the accuracy of its systems, though some users have noted minor issues with the EFB's performance calculations at high-altitude airports.
