PMDG has confirmed the 777-300ER is in development for MSFS 2024, with a release expected in Q1 2027. The product will feature a fully simulated FMS and new wing flex physics, with a 747-8 teased for the future.
PMDG has officially announced the 777-300ER for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, bringing its flagship wide-body to the next-generation platform. The announcement, made on the PMDG forums, confirms that the aircraft will feature the same systems depth as its MSFS 2020 counterpart, including a fully functional FMS with LNAV/VNAV, SID/STAR management, and hold capabilities. New for the 2024 version is a reworked wing flex physics model, which PMDG claims is the most realistic yet, and an enhanced EFB with performance calculations and Navigraph Charts integration.
Robert Randazzo, PMDG's CEO, also teased a 747-8 project, stating that the team is 'evaluating the feasibility' of bringing the Queen of the Skies to MSFS 2024. He hinted at advanced systems like the Honeywell flight management computer and the complex electrical system, which would set a new bar for simulation. The 777-300ER is scheduled for a Q1 2027 release, with pricing to be announced later.
Community reaction has been enthusiastic, with many simmers excited about the prospect of a modern PMDG wide-body on the new platform. However, some have expressed concerns about PMDG's past delays and the need for a robust SDK. For now, PMDG has assured users that the 737-800 and 777-200ER will continue to receive updates for MSFS 2024. Developers like Fenix and iniBuilds have also announced their own wide-body projects, making the wide-body segment increasingly competitive. We'll keep you posted as more details emerge.
