PMDG has confirmed that the highly anticipated 777-300ER is in active beta testing for MSFS 2024, with the first release candidate expected later this year. The update includes a revamped FMS with LNAV/VNAV improvements and a new EFB.
PMDG has officially moved its Boeing 777-300ER for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 into beta testing. The announcement came via the PMDG forums, where CEO Robert Randazzo detailed the progress and the new features that will be included in the initial release. Among the highlights is a significantly enhanced FMS, with improved LNAV path tracking and more accurate VNAV descent profiles. These changes are designed to bring the aircraft closer to the real 777's performance, particularly during complex SID/STAR procedures and RNP approaches.
The 777-300ER will also feature a new EFB (Electronic Flight Bag) that integrates with Navigraph charts and SimBrief, allowing pilots to access routing and performance data seamlessly. The aircraft's cockpit has been updated with new textures and improved lighting, while the exterior model includes detailed engine nacelles with correct GE90-115B characteristics. PMDG has also hinted at future expansions, including the 777-200LR and freighter variants.
Beta testers have reported that the aircraft is stable in the MSFS 2024 environment, with accurate systems simulation including hydraulics, electrics, and FADEC. PMDG is targeting a release before the end of the year, but Randazzo emphasized that quality remains the top priority. "We're not going to rush this," he said. "The 777 is a complex machine, and we owe it to our customers to get it right." This release will mark PMDG's first fully native aircraft for MSFS 2024, following the success of the 737 family.
