PMDG has announced that the highly anticipated 777-300ER for MSFS 2024 has entered beta testing, featuring an expanded FMS with enhanced VNAV and LNAV capabilities. Beta testers report improved frame rates and deeper systems integration.
PMDG has officially moved the 777-300ER for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 into the beta phase, marking a significant milestone for the long-haul flagship. The beta build, version 1.0.8, introduces a revised FMS architecture that PMDG says improves VNAV path tracking during complex arrivals and missed approaches. Testers have noted the addition of a new "PBN Performance" page that simplifies RNP AR approach setup, a feature long requested by the community.
The aircraft also benefits from MSFS 2024's improved weather and physics engine, with PMDG confirming that the 777's fly-by-wire logic has been recalibrated to match real-world handling characteristics. Beta feedback highlights smoother frame rates in dense environments like EGLL and KJFK, thanks to optimized texture streaming.
While a release date has not been set, insiders suggest a public beta could begin within weeks. PMDG's Robert Randazzo stated on the forums that the team is "laser-focused on eliminating the last few bugs" before rollout. Existing 777-200ER customers can expect an upgrade path, and the 300ER will include the GE90-115B engine variant with realistic FADEC behavior.
This release is poised to become the definitive heavy jet for MSFS 2024, competing directly with the Fenix A350 and iniBuilds' upcoming A380. For now, simmers can follow the beta progress via PMDG's official forums and their Discord server.
