PMDG has announced that the long-awaited 777-300ER for MSFS 2024 has entered beta testing, with betatesters receiving access to the aircraft's new FMS and integrated EFB. The update promises a fully featured long-haul simulation experience, including a new 'deep simulation' of the GE90-115B engines.

PMDG has officially transitioned their 777-300ER for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 into beta, marking a significant milestone in the project's development. The beta includes the aircraft's new FMS with a fully implemented RNP AR capability and a custom EFB that integrates seamlessly with Navigraph Charts and SimBrief. The EFB also provides performance calculation tools, including V-speeds, which are calculated in real-time based on weight, atmospheric conditions, and runway analysis.

According to beta testers, the flight dynamics of the 777-300ER have been refined to accurately model the Boeing aircraft's fly-by-wire characteristics, with a noticeable improvement in the yaw damping at high altitudes. The GE90-115B powerplants are simulated with a new FADEC model that affects thrust response and EGT margins, adding depth for those who appreciate engine management. The aircraft also features a detailed cabin and a complete set of failures, including hydraulic and electrical system malfunctions.

PMDG has not provided a release date, but the beta phase suggests we may see the aircraft before the end of 2026. Existing PMDG 777-200LR/F owners can expect a discounted upgrade path. This release will be a major test for MSFS 2024's underlying simulation engine, which has been praised for its improvements in system depth and physics.

We will continue to monitor the beta and bring you a full review once the aircraft is released. For now, the screenshots released by PMDG show a level of detail that is sure to satisfy long-haul enthusiasts.
