PMDG has moved its long-awaited 777-300ER for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 into beta testing. The release promises full CPDLC integration, a revised FMS with improved VNAV path smoothing, and native MSFS 2024 flight model enhancements.

PMDG announced today that its Boeing 777-300ER for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has entered the beta testing phase. The aircraft, which has been in development for over a year, will leverage the new simulator's enhanced flight dynamics and atmospheric model. According to PMDG, the 777-300ER will feature a completely overhauled FMS with improved VNAV path smoothing, full CPDLC (Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications) integration via Hoppie's ACARS, and a detailed simulation of the General Electric GE90-115B engines, including FADEC and EEC logic.

The beta team, composed of real-world 777 pilots and experienced simmers, is currently validating systems such as the fly-by-wire flight control system, autopilot modes, and the electronic checklist. PMDG has also confirmed that the aircraft will support MSFS 2024's new CFD-based flight model, resulting in more accurate ground handling and stall characteristics. The virtual cockpit will include a fully functional EFB with Navigraph integration for charts and SimBrief flight plan import.

While no release date has been set, PMDG expects the beta period to last several weeks. The 777-300ER will be the first PMDG product built natively for MSFS 2024, though the team has stated that existing MSFS 2020 products will be updated for compatibility. Pricing and upgrade paths for existing 777 owners have not been announced. Stay tuned to FlightSimWire for further updates as the beta progresses.
