PMDG has released version 3.2 of its 747-400 for Microsoft Flight Simulator, introducing a revised FMC with improved VNAV descent planning and a fix for a rare autopilot disengagement issue. The update also optimizes ground handling and adds support for the latest MSFS update.
PMDG has rolled out version 3.2 of its 747-400 for Microsoft Flight Simulator, a substantial update that focuses on refining the aircraft’s flight management computer and resolving several long-standing issues. The headline addition is a reworked VNAV descent logic that now better matches the real aircraft’s behavior, particularly when crossing constraints on STARs. Pilots will also notice a smoother transition from cruise to descent, with less hunting for the correct vertical speed.
The update also addresses a rare autopilot disengagement that could occur during high-altitude turbulence, a fix that will please long-haul flyers. Additionally, PMDG has improved the ground handling model, reducing the tendency for the nose gear to shimmy at high taxi speeds. The aircraft’s EFB has received a minor update with new payload presets for common cargo configurations.
Performance optimizations are included as well, with a modest increase in frame rates in VC view, thanks to texture streamlining. The update is available now through the PMDG Operations Center and is free for existing owners. This continues PMDG’s commitment to supporting its flagship aircraft, and it remains the gold standard for Boeing 747 simulation.
