PMDG has rolled out a comprehensive update for its 737NG series in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, introducing refined VNAV path smoothing and full integration with the new MSFS 2024 flight planning system. The update also addresses hydraulic system logic and improves EFIS rendering.

PMDG has released a significant update for its 737NG series in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, version 3.1.2, which brings a host of improvements to the aircraft's flight management system and autopilot logic. The most notable change is the enhanced VNAV path smoothing algorithm, which now more accurately replicates the real 737's performance during complex arrivals and approaches. This update also integrates with MSFS 2024's native flight planning system, allowing for seamless import of SimBrief routes and real-time weather data.

The update addresses several long-standing issues with the hydraulic system, ensuring that system A and B pressures respond correctly to engine and electric pump operations. Additionally, the EFIS display rendering has been optimized for the new DX12 engine, reducing screen tearing and improving frame rates in high-density scenery areas. PMDG has also refined the FADEC logic to better simulate engine spool-up times and fuel flow characteristics.

According to PMDG's lead developer, Robert Randazzo, the team has been working closely with real-world 737 pilots to fine-tune the flight model. "We've implemented a new ground friction model that more accurately represents the 737's handling during taxi and takeoff roll," Randazzo said. "This is part of our ongoing commitment to realism."

Simmers can download the update via the PMDG Operations Center. The update is available for all variants of the 737NG series, including the 737-700, -800, and -900. PMDG has also confirmed that work on the 737 MAX for MSFS 2024 is progressing well, with an expected release in early 2027.
