PMDG has released a comprehensive update for its 737NG fleet in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, focusing on refined flight dynamics and system depth. The update introduces improved VNAV path tracking and enhanced ground handling based on real-world data.
PMDG has rolled out a significant update to its 737NG series for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, version 3.0.1. The update addresses community feedback on flight model accuracy, particularly in the pitch axis during approach and flare. According to PMDG, the new flight dynamics are based on expanded wind tunnel data and real-world flight test reports, resulting in more realistic V-speeds and energy management during complex approaches such as the RNP AR into Innsbruck (LOWI).
The update also brings improvements to the Flight Management Computer (FMC), with refined VNAV path tracking and better handling of speed constraints on STARs. Simmers will notice more accurate LNAV intercepts and smoother transitions during RNAV approaches. Additionally, the ground handling model has been overhauled to better simulate tiller responsiveness and brake effectiveness, reducing the twitchiness previously reported.
System depth remains a hallmark of PMDG products, and this update further polishes the hydraulics and electrical systems. The team has also addressed minor visual artifacts in the cockpit, including improved PFD and ND rendering at high refresh rates. The update is available now via the PMDG Operations Center and is free for existing customers.
For serious simmers, this update underscores PMDG's commitment to continuous improvement. It's a testament to the maturity of MSFS 2024 as a platform for high-fidelity airliner simulation. Expect further updates as PMDG continues to refine its 737NG and prepares for the much-anticipated 777.
