PMDG has released a significant update for its 737NG line, addressing long-standing VNAV path deviations and introducing new EFB performance tools. The update also improves LNAV tracking in tight RNP approaches.

PMDG has rolled out version 3.0.45 for its 737NG series (737-600 through 737-900ER), bringing a host of fixes and enhancements that serious simmers have been requesting since the aircraft's initial release. The most notable change is a complete rework of the VNAV path computation, which previously exhibited minor altitude deviations during complex STARs with multiple constraints. According to the changelog, the FMC now more accurately models the real-world Smiths-style VNAV path algorithm, resulting in smoother descent profiles and better adherence to RNP 0.1 approaches.

The update also introduces an expanded Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) with integrated performance calculation for takeoff and landing, including improved obstacle clearance and assumed temperature calculations. Pilots can now import SimBrief flight plans directly into the EFB, which then syncs with the FMC—a feature that was previously missing from the NG lineup. Additionally, the LNAV code has been tuned to reduce overshoots during high-speed intercepts, particularly on tight DME arcs.

PMDG states that the update is available via the Operations Center for both MSFS 2020 and 2024. The developer also confirmed that work continues on the 777 and 747-400 lines, with the latter expected to enter beta testing later this year. For now, NG drivers can enjoy a more realistic and predictable flight deck experience.
