PMDG has released the first beta build of its 737NG series for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, featuring a rebuilt VNAV path engine and improved LNAV tracking. The update also introduces full compatibility with MSFS 2024's new atmospheric and ground handling models.
PMDG has announced that its 737NG product line for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has entered beta testing. The beta, version 4.0.0.1, introduces a completely rewritten VNAV path computation engine that now correctly models geometric descent paths and RNP AR capabilities. According to a post on the PMDG forums, the team has also refined LNAV tracking to account for MSFS 2024's improved wind and turbulence modeling, resulting in more accurate roll command and cross-track error.
The update is not merely a compatibility patch. PMDG has integrated the new simulator's CFD-based ground effect and updated engine model, which affects takeoff performance and fuel burn. The FADEC logic has been adjusted to reflect the CFM56-7B's real-world spool-up times more closely. Additionally, the flight model now supports MSFS 2024's new propellant and inertia simulation, giving the aircraft a more realistic feel during rotation and flare.
Existing customers will receive the upgrade free of charge, though a small fee may apply for the 737-600/700 variants if purchased separately. PMDG expects a public release within two to three weeks, pending beta feedback. The team is also working on updating the 777 and DC-6 for MSFS 2024, with the 777 expected to enter beta later this year. For now, simmers can look forward to a significantly more authentic 737 experience in the new simulator.
