PMDG has announced that its highly anticipated 737NG series for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has entered beta testing. The update promises a complete overhaul of the VNAV system, improved FADEC logic, and native MSFS 2024 features like enhanced ground handling and new lighting effects.

PMDG has confirmed that its Boeing 737NG (Next Generation) series for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has officially entered beta testing. The developer shared the news via its forums, stating that the beta build includes a comprehensive overhaul of the Vertical Navigation (VNAV) system, which now more accurately models the real aircraft's path descent and speed intervention modes. The update also brings significant improvements to the Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) logic, particularly in the areas of thrust management and engine start sequences. These changes are a direct response to community feedback from the MSFS 2020 version, which, while praised for its depth, had minor discrepancies in VNAV behavior during complex RNAV (RNP) approaches.

The MSFS 2024 version will leverage the new simulator's capabilities, including improved ground handling physics, enhanced lighting and shadow rendering, and the ability to use the new Asobo Studio atmospheric model for more realistic engine performance. PMDG also hinted at native support for MSFS 2024's new flight planning system, which could allow for seamless import of SimBrief flight plans via Navigraph integration. The beta is currently limited to a select group of testers, but PMDG expects a public release in late Q4 2026.

Simmers have been eagerly awaiting this update, as the 737NG remains one of the most popular airliners in the flight simulation community. The beta phase will focus on stability, systems integration, and compatibility with third-party add-ons such as GSX Pro and FSDreamTeam's airport sceneries. PMDG has not yet announced a price for the MSFS 2024 version, but existing owners of the MSFS 2020 version are expected to receive a significant upgrade discount. Stay tuned to FlightSimWire for further updates as the beta progresses.
