PMDG has announced that its 737NG series for MSFS 2024 has entered beta testing, bringing a revamped EFB with Navigraph charts integration and improved VNAV logic. The update also includes new engine and hydraulic system modeling.
PMDG has quietly moved its 737NG product line into beta for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, according to a post on the company's forums. The update, version 4.0, is a comprehensive overhaul that leverages the new simulator's capabilities. Key additions include a fully redesigned Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) with native Navigraph charts and SimBrief integration, allowing pilots to access terminal procedures and performance data without leaving the cockpit.
The flight model and systems have also received attention. PMDG states that the VNAV and LNAV logic has been refined to better handle complex RNAV (RNP) approaches, with improved path smoothing and altitude constraints. The engine model now simulates FADEC behavior more accurately, including thrust lapse rates and fuel flow at varying altitudes. Hydraulic system logic has been updated to reflect realistic fluid dynamics and pump failures.
Beta testers have reportedly praised the improved sounds, recorded from a real CFM56-7B, and the enhanced wing flex. The 737NG for MSFS 2024 will be a free upgrade for existing owners of the MSFS 2020 version, a move that has been well-received by the community. A release date is expected within the next few weeks, pending beta feedback. This update solidifies PMDG's commitment to the 737 platform and sets the stage for its upcoming 777.
