PMDG has released a significant update for its 737 NG series in MSFS 2024, introducing a new Electronic Flight Bag, refined LNAV tracking, and optimization for the simulator's new engine. The update is available now via the PMDG Operations Center.
PMDG has rolled out a comprehensive update for its 737 NG series (737-700, 737-800, 737-900) in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Version 4.0.0, now available via the PMDG Operations Center, brings a host of improvements that bring the aircraft closer to real-world fidelity. The most visible change is the introduction of a new Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) based on the real-world Boeing EFB, featuring performance calculations, takeoff and landing data, and a revised Navigraph charts interface.
Under the hood, PMDG has refined the LNAV and VNAV algorithms. The aircraft now tracks RNAV and RNP AR approaches with greater precision, including curved segments and radius-to-fix legs. This is particularly welcome for simmers flying into challenging airports like London City (EGLC) or Innsbruck (LOWI). The autopilot also benefits from improved gust compensation and smoother mode transitions. Additionally, the flight model has been adjusted to better reflect the 737's behavior at high angles of attack and during asymmetric thrust situations.
Performance in MSFS 2024 has been optimized, with reduced CPU overhead and more efficient use of the new rendering pipeline. PMDG states that frame rates have improved by up to 15% in dense scenery areas. The update also addresses several bugs, including incorrect fuel flow indications and an issue with the weather radar display.
Existing customers can download the update for free. New customers can purchase the 737-800 for $74.99, with the -700 and -900 available as separate add-ons. PMDG has confirmed that its 777 and 747-8 are also being updated for MSFS 2024, with releases expected in the coming months.
