PMDG has announced that its highly anticipated 737 for MSFS 2024 has entered beta testing, featuring a completely reworked FMS, enhanced LNAV/VNAV, and improved engine modeling. The beta includes the 737-800 and 737-900 variants, with the MAX series to follow.
PMDG's Robert Randazzo has confirmed that the 737 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has reached beta, marking a significant milestone for the developer's flagship airliner. The new version leverages MSFS 2024's advanced aerodynamics and systems simulation, resulting in a more accurate flight model and improved engine response. The FMS has been rebuilt to better replicate the real-world Smiths Aerospace unit, with more precise LNAV and VNAV path computation and improved RNAV approach handling.
Beta testers are reporting that the aircraft's autopilot now handles complex SIDs and STARs with greater fidelity, and the autothrottle responds more realistically to gusty conditions. The engine model includes enhanced FADEC logic and more accurate fuel flow. The visual model has also been updated with new PBR textures and a more detailed cockpit, including a functional weather radar and predictive windshear.
The beta is currently limited to the 737-800 and 737-900, but Randazzo confirmed that the 737-700 and MAX variants will follow in subsequent updates. PMDG aims for a release before the end of the year, though no firm date has been given. Pricing will be announced closer to launch, with a discount for existing owners of the MSFS 2020 version.
