PMDG has released version 3.2 of their 737-800 for MSFS, introducing a rewritten VNAV logic that improves descent planning and adding a custom failure system that simulates hydraulic and electrical faults. The update is available now via PMDG Operations Center.

PMDG continues to refine their 737NG product line with the release of version 3.2 for MSFS. This update focuses on the flight management computer (FMS) with a complete rewrite of the VNAV logic, addressing long-standing issues with descent planning and idle path management. Our testing shows that the aircraft now consistently adheres to SID/STAR altitude constraints, and the vertical path during cruise is smoother than before.

One of the most exciting additions is the new custom failure system, which allows simmers to introduce realistic hydraulic system failures, electrical bus faults, or engine bleed malfunctions. These failures are configurable via the FMC's maintenance menu, and they interact with the aircraft's systems realistically, triggering EICAS messages and requiring proper crew response. This feature is a boon for virtual airline pilots who want to practice abnormal procedures.

Additionally, PMDG has improved the aircraft's external lighting model, with new dynamic landing lights that cast realistic beams on the runway during night operations. The update also includes several bug fixes related to the IRS alignment and autopilot engagement logic. Version 3.2 is available now through the PMDG Operations Center, and it applies to both the 737-800 and the 737-700 expansion.

Long-time users will appreciate the increased depth, while newcomers will find the failure system a great way to learn systems management. PMDG has also hinted at a 777-300ER expansion in development, which we expect to see later this year. This update solidifies the PMDG 737 as the gold standard for study-level airliners in MSFS.
