PMDG releases version 3.0.78 for the 737-800, featuring refined flight dynamics, improved VNAV path adherence, and EFB stability fixes. The update also addresses LNAV turn anticipation and autoland reliability.

PMDG has rolled out version 3.0.78 for its Microsoft Flight Simulator 737-800, bringing a host of refinements that will resonate with virtual airline pilots and systems enthusiasts alike. The headline change is a reworked flight model that better replicates the 737's pitch response during flap retraction and approach configurations, with particular attention to the notorious trim wheel sensitivity during go-around scenarios. According to the changelog, VNAV path adherence has been tightened, reducing the overshoot that some users reported when flying complex RNAV (RNP) approaches into airports like Innsbruck (LOWI) or Queenstown (NZQN).

The Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) has also received performance optimizations, including faster load times for performance calculations and a fix for the intermittent freeze when importing SimBrief OFPs. PMDG notes that the autoland system now engages more reliably in CAT III conditions, with improved flare logic and rollout guidance. Additionally, the LNAV turn anticipation has been adjusted to better handle sharp turns on SIDs, such as the DEEZZ5 departure from Teterboro (KTEB).

Community feedback on the PMDG forums has been largely positive, with testers praising the smoother autopilot transitions and reduced oscillation during cruise. However, some users have reported minor graphical glitches with the new EFB interface on ultrawide monitors—a issue PMDG says will be addressed in a hotfix. The update is available now via the PMDG Operations Center, and is free for existing owners. As always, PMDG recommends a clean install of liveries after updating to avoid conflicts.
