PMDG has released a significant update for its 737-800 in MSFS 2024, featuring a revised flight model, improved VNAV path handling, and an expanded EFB with Navigraph integration. The update also addresses long-standing issues with LNAV tracking in strong winds.

PMDG has pushed a comprehensive update to its 737-800 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, addressing several areas that have been on the community's wishlist since the aircraft's release. The most notable change is a revised flight model that better replicates the 737's handling characteristics, particularly in the low-speed regime and during flap transitions. Testers report that the aircraft now requires more accurate pitch trim during approach and that the flare feels more authentic, with a reduced tendency to float.

The Flight Management Computer (FMC) has also received attention. VNAV path construction has been refined, and the aircraft now handles complex arrivals with multiple altitude constraints more reliably. PMDG has also fixed a long-standing issue where LNAV would overshoot the centerline in strong crosswinds; the new code includes improved wind compensation logic that mirrors the real aircraft's behavior. Additionally, the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) now features direct Navigraph charts integration, allowing pilots to view approach plates and airport diagrams without leaving the simulator, and a performance calculator for takeoff and landing data.

On the systems side, PMDG has implemented more accurate fuel burn and improved the autopilot's turbulence penetration mode. The update is available via the PMDG Operations Center and is free for existing owners. For those flying the 737 on VATSIM, the improved LNAV and VNAV fidelity will be particularly welcome during busy events. PMDG continues to set the standard for Boeing simulations in MSFS, and this update solidifies the 737-800's position as a must-have for airliner enthusiasts.
