PMDG has released version 3.0.87 of its 737-800 for Microsoft Flight Simulator, introducing rewritten FMS logic that more closely mirrors the real Boeing unit. The update also adds a fully featured EFB with performance calculations and a moving map.
PMDG has delivered a substantial update to its highly regarded 737-800 for MSFS, version 3.0.87, which is now available via the PMDG Operations Center. The headline feature is a rewritten FMS (Flight Management System) core that aims to replicate the logic of the real Smiths Aerospace FMS, including more accurate VNAV predictions and improved hold and procedure turn behavior. Pilots will notice a difference in how the aircraft manages idle and cruise speeds, with better compliance to cost index and CI-based optimization.
The update also brings a fully functional EFB (Electronic Flight Bag) that includes performance calculations (takeoff and landing speeds, thrust derates), a moving map with terrain and traffic overlays, and a document viewer for charts and checklists. The EFB is integrated with Navigraph charts, allowing pilots to sync their SimBrief flight plans and view approach plates directly on the tablet.
Additional fixes address issues with the autobrake system, spoiler deployment, and the behavior of the yaw damper during turbulence. PMDG has also optimized the VC interior for better performance on lower-end systems. This update is free for existing owners and sets the stage for the upcoming 777-300ER, which is currently in beta.
