PMDG has begun beta testing its 737-800 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, introducing full integration with the Universal Flight Tablet and updated LNAV/VNAV logic. The team expects a release before year-end.

PMDG has confirmed that its highly anticipated Boeing 737-800 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has entered internal beta testing. According to a post on the PMDG forums, the aircraft now features full integration with the Universal Flight Tablet (UFT), allowing simmers to manage performance calculations, load sheets, and even request clearance via SimBrief directly from the cockpit. The UFT was introduced with the 737 for MSFS 2020 and has been refined based on community feedback.

Key improvements include a revised LNAV and VNAV system that more accurately models the real 737's path construction and energy management, particularly during complex RNAV (RNP) approaches. The team has also updated the flight model to leverage MSFS 2024's improved aerodynamics engine, resulting in more realistic ground handling and flare characteristics. Systems depth remains a hallmark, with accurate FADEC behavior, hydraulic system logic, and a fully functional EFIS.

Beta testers are reportedly focusing on FMS performance, autopilot behavior in turbulence, and compatibility with third-party add-ons such as Navigraph's navdata and VATSIM's traffic injection. PMDG has not announced a specific release date but indicated that a release is expected before the end of the year, pending beta feedback. Pricing and upgrade paths for existing 737 owners have yet to be detailed.

For serious simmers, this release is significant: it marks PMDG's first fully native aircraft for MSFS 2024, setting the stage for future projects like the 777 and 747. The beta phase will likely be closely watched by the community, as it will demonstrate how well the new simulator handles complex airliner systems.
