PMDG has begun beta testing its 737-800 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, featuring a rebuilt FMS with full LNAV/VNAV, improved EFB integration, and native MSFS 2024 flight model compatibility. The release is expected to bring unprecedented system depth to the platform.

PMDG has confirmed that its highly anticipated Boeing 737-800 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has entered beta testing, marking a significant milestone for the platform. The aircraft, which was previously available for MSFS 2020, has been rebuilt to leverage the new simulator's capabilities, including a revamped flight model and enhanced systems simulation. According to PMDG's Robert Randazzo, the beta team is currently focused on validating the FMS, particularly the LNAV and VNAV pathing, which have been reworked to take advantage of MSFS 2024's improved navigation data handling.

The 737-800 for MSFS 2024 will feature full integration with the simulator's new Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), allowing for seamless performance calculations, weight and balance, and takeoff/landing data entry. PMDG has also confirmed that the aircraft will support the new MSFS 2024 flight planning system, enabling direct import of SimBrief routes and real-time weather updates. The beta testers are reportedly stress-testing the aircraft's hydraulics, electrical, and fuel systems under a variety of failure scenarios to ensure accuracy.

One of the key improvements is the adaptation of the 737's flight dynamics to MSFS 2024's updated aerodynamics engine. PMDG has worked closely with Asobo Studio to fine-tune the aircraft's handling characteristics, particularly in the approach and landing phases. The beta team is also evaluating the new cockpit lighting and rain effects, which are said to be significantly more realistic than in the previous version.

While no official release date has been announced, PMDG expects the beta period to last several weeks, with a release targeted for late November. The 737-800 will be available as a standalone purchase, with a discount for existing MSFS 2020 owners. The developer has also hinted that other variants, including the 737-700 and 737-900, will follow in early 2027.
