Orbx has released TrueEarth Germany South, a massive photorealistic scenery package for MSFS 2024 featuring 0.5m orthoimagery, enhanced mesh, and full dynamic lighting. The package covers the Bavarian Alps and major cities like Munich (EDDM) and Nuremberg (EDDN).
Orbx continues its dominance in the photorealistic scenery market with the release of TrueEarth Germany South for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This new add-on covers approximately 90,000 square kilometers of southern Germany, including the Bavarian Alps, Munich, and Stuttgart, with 0.5-meter orthoimagery that brings unprecedented detail to the region. The package integrates seamlessly with MSFS 2024's dynamic lighting engine, providing accurate seasonal color variations and improved night lighting for urban areas.
Pilots flying VFR in the region will appreciate the enhanced mesh that accurately depicts the Alpine foothills and the Danube valley. The package also includes custom autogen for landmarks such as Neuschwanstein Castle and the Allianz Arena. Orbx has implemented their proprietary 'Cityscape' technology to ensure that major cities like Munich (EDDM) and Nuremberg (EDDN) feature hand-placed landmarks and accurate road layouts, making it a must-have for any serious VFR enthusiast.
TrueEarth Germany South is available now through Orbx Central for $49.99, and existing TrueEarth Germany customers receive a loyalty discount. The add-on is optimized for MSFS 2024's new streaming technology, with LOD adjustments that minimize performance impact. Orbx has also confirmed that compatibility with MSFS 2020 is on the roadmap, though a release date has not been announced.
This release sets a new benchmark for regional scenery packs, and we expect it to be a staple for virtual pilots exploring Central Europe. With the upcoming FSExpo 2026, Orbx has teased additional TrueEarth regions in development, hinting at a possible expansion into Scandinavia.
