Orbx's Melbourne v2 brings a complete overhaul of YMML, featuring 4K PBR textures, dynamic airport lighting, and updated taxiway signage, plus a custom ground traffic system. The scenery includes the new T2 international pier and a detailed cityscape.

Orbx has released YMML Melbourne v2, a complete rebuild of their popular Melbourne International Airport scenery for MSFS 2020 and 2024. The new version includes 4K PBR textures across all buildings, dynamic lighting that automatically adjusts to time of day and weather, and a custom ground traffic system that simulates service vehicles and baggage carts. The terminal interiors have been modeled with new detail, including the recently opened T2 international pier with its glass facade and updated gate assignments.

The airport is surrounded by a custom cityscape that now includes the Melbourne Central Business District landmarks, such as the Eureka Tower and the Arts Centre spire, all rendered with accurate night lighting. Runway 16/34 has been updated with new markings and approach lighting, and additional taxiway signage has been added to match the current real-world charts. Orbx says the scenery is fully compatible with MSFS 2024's enhanced terrain system, allowing for more accurate terrain following on approach.

For X-Plane 12 users, Orbx has also announced that a separate version is in development, although no release date has been set. Melbourne v2 is available now on Orbx Direct for $24.99, with a free upgrade for owners of the original YMML. The scenery has been optimized for performance, with a LOD system that should maintain high frame rates even on mid-range hardware. This release sets a new benchmark for Australian airports in MSFS, and we expect to see more of Orbx's portfolio receive similar treatment in the coming months.
