Orbx Simulation Systems launches TrueEarth Northern California for MSFS 2024, featuring high-resolution aerial imagery, custom landmarks, and enhanced autogen for San Francisco and surrounding regions. The package includes 15 detailed airports, including KOAK and KSFO.
Orbx has expanded its TrueEarth series with the release of Northern California for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This expansive scenery package covers approximately 60,000 square miles, from the Oregon border down to Monterey Bay, and includes high-resolution satellite imagery at 30cm per pixel. The Bay Area is particularly well-represented, with custom models of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and downtown San Francisco, plus accurate placement of hundreds of landmarks and points of interest.
For airport enthusiasts, Orbx has included 15 detailed airports, such as Oakland International (KOAK), San Francisco International (KSFO), and Sacramento Executive (KSAC). These feature custom ground textures, accurate taxiway signage, and static aircraft. The autogen has been specially tuned to match the region's architecture, with a mix of urban, suburban, and rural building types. The package also includes enhanced mesh and landclass, ensuring that the rolling hills and coastal ranges are accurately depicted.
In terms of performance, Orbx has optimized the scenery for MSFS 2024's new rendering engine, with LOD adjustments to maintain smooth frame rates even in dense areas like downtown San Francisco. The product is available now from OrbxDirect and other retailers, priced at $32.95 AUD. Existing owners of the MSFS 2020 version are eligible for a discount. For pilots flying VFR or IFR in the region, this package offers a significant upgrade over the default scenery, and is a must-have for virtual Bay Area residents.
