Orbx has launched TrueEarth Netherlands for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, featuring 1-meter orthoimagery, custom landmarks, and enhanced autogen. The package covers the entire country, including detailed renditions of Amsterdam Schiphol (EHAM) and Rotterdam The Hague (EHRD).
Orbx Simulation Systems has released TrueEarth Netherlands for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the latest entry in its popular TrueEarth series. The package covers the entirety of the Netherlands with 1-meter per pixel orthoimagery, offering stunning detail for VFR flyers and airliner pilots alike. The scenery includes custom landmarks such as the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam, the Dom Tower in Utrecht, and the Delta Works, all modeled with high-resolution textures and PBR materials.
In addition to the ortho, Orbx has improved the autogen and vegetation placement to match the Dutch landscape, with accurately placed wind turbines, greenhouses, and polders. The package also includes enhanced water masking for the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea, with realistic wave patterns and reflections. For IFR pilots, the default EHAM and EHRD have been upgraded with custom ground polygons, taxiway signage, and static aircraft, though these are not full airport sceneries.
Performance is a key focus for Orbx, and TrueEarth Netherlands is designed to work seamlessly with MSFS 2024's new LOD system. In our test flight from EHAM to EHRD at 2000 feet, we maintained smooth frame rates with no noticeable stuttering, even in densely populated areas like Amsterdam. The package also includes a configuration tool that allows users to adjust texture resolution and autogen density based on their hardware.
TrueEarth Netherlands is available now from Orbx Direct for $32.99 AUD (approximately $22 USD). It is compatible with MSFS 2020 and 2024, though the 2024 version benefits from improved lighting and water rendering. For those looking to explore the Low Countries in unprecedented detail, this is an essential purchase.
