Orbx has launched TrueEarth Great Britain South for X-Plane 12, featuring high-resolution orthoimagery, custom mesh, and hundreds of landmarks. The scenery covers London to the South Coast, enhancing VFR flying in the region.

Orbx Simulation Systems has released TrueEarth Great Britain South for X-Plane 12, the latest in its acclaimed TrueEarth series. This scenery package covers the southern portion of England, from London and the Thames Valley down to the South Coast, including the Isle of Wight. It utilizes high-resolution aerial imagery (60cm/pixel) and a custom 5m mesh to deliver stunning visual fidelity for VFR pilots.

The package includes hundreds of custom-modeled landmarks, such as Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, and the White Cliffs of Dover. Major airports like EGLL (Heathrow), EGKK (Gatwick), and EGHH (Bournemouth) are not included but are compatible with existing add-ons. Orbx has also added accurate autogen for suburban areas and improved night lighting, with dynamic lighting effects on key buildings.

Performance has been optimized for X-Plane 12's Vulkan engine, with level of detail (LOD) techniques to maintain frame rates. The scenery requires approximately 25GB of disk space and is available now via Orbx Central for $44.95 AUD. Existing owners of the X-Plane 11 version are eligible for a discount.

For serious simmers who enjoy low-and-slow flying, TrueEarth Great Britain South is an essential addition. The combination of accurate mesh, detailed landmarks, and seamless integration with X-Plane 12's weather engine makes for an immersive experience. Orbx continues to set the standard for large-scale photoreal scenery.
