Orbx Simulation Systems has launched TrueEarth Great Britain South for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, featuring 5-meter terrain mesh, custom landmarks, and enhanced autogen. The scenery covers the entire south of England and Wales, including London and Cardiff.
Orbx Simulation Systems has expanded its TrueEarth series with the release of TrueEarth Great Britain South for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This massive scenery package covers over 100,000 square kilometers, from Cornwall to the Midlands, including major cities like London, Bristol, and Cardiff. The add-on utilizes 5-meter terrain mesh derived from LiDAR data, resulting in accurate rolling hills, river valleys, and coastal cliffs. Custom landmarks include iconic structures such as the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Stonehenge, and the Eden Project.
In addition to the mesh, TrueEarth GB South includes high-resolution aerial imagery and hand-placed autogen for urban areas, ensuring that VFR flights over the English countryside feel authentic. The scenery is fully compatible with MSFS 2024's new lighting and weather systems, and it includes night lighting that matches real-world light pollution patterns. Orbx has also optimized the package for performance, with LODs that maintain frame rates even in dense areas like central London.
For flight simmers, this release is a boon for short-haul operations between airports like EGLL, EGKK, and EGGD. The scenery integrates seamlessly with Orbx's other GB products, including TrueEarth Great Britain Central and North. It is available now via OrbxDirect and the MSFS Marketplace. Orbx has hinted that a similar update for X-Plane 12 is in the works, though no release date has been announced.
