Orbx's latest TrueEarth package covers southern England and Wales with stunning 60cm/pixel imagery, custom landmarks, and enhanced autogen. It's a massive visual upgrade for VFR flyers in MSFS 2024.

Orbx Simulation Systems has launched TrueEarth Great Britain South for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, covering over 40,000 square kilometers of southern England, Wales, and the Channel Islands. The package utilizes 60cm/pixel aerial imagery, color-corrected to match the sim's lighting engine, and includes custom-modeled landmarks such as Stonehenge, the Cliffs of Dover, and major London stadiums. Autogen has been hand-placed to reflect real-world building footprints, and vegetation density has been tuned for a natural VFR experience.

For IFR simmers, the scenery includes accurate airport layouts for key hubs like Heathrow (EGLL), Gatwick (EGLL), and Bristol (EGGD), though these are not full airport sceneries—Orbx recommends pairing with dedicated add-ons from developers like UK2000 or Aerosoft. The terrain mesh is based on 5m LiDAR data, providing realistic rolling hills and coastline. Performance is surprisingly good, thanks to optimized LODs and texture compression, though VR users may need to tweak settings.

TrueEarth GB South is available now for $44.99 AUD, with a discounted upgrade path for owners of the P3D version. It's a must-have for anyone flying GA in the region, and a significant improvement over the default MSFS 2024 ground textures. Orbx continues to demonstrate why they remain the leader in large-scale photoreal scenery.
