Orbx's latest TrueEarth region covers the entire Florida peninsula with 1m/pixel aerial imagery, custom autogen, and hand-placed landmarks. It's the studio's largest MSFS 2024 scenery package to date.

Orbx Simulation Systems has launched TrueEarth Florida for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, bringing the studio's signature photoreal treatment to the Sunshine State. The package spans approximately 170,000 square kilometers, from the Panhandle's pine flatwoods down to the Florida Keys, using source imagery at up to 30cm/pixel in metro areas like Miami (KMIA), Orlando (KMCO), and Tampa (KTPA).

The scenery includes custom-modeled landmarks such as the Kennedy Space Center's Vehicle Assembly Building, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, and downtown Miami's skyline, all optimized for MSFS 2024's improved LOD and DX12 rendering path. Orbx has also reworked water masking along the Intracoastal Waterway and the Everglades' mangrove fringes, which have historically been a weak point in default sim data.

For IFR pilots, the visual fidelity around KMIA's 8L/26R complex and the new eastern runway expansion at KTPA should make VFR pattern work and visual approaches notably more immersive. Orbx notes that the package is compatible with third-party airports from LatinVFR and FSDreamTeam, though users should verify elevation conflicts with older AFCADs.

TrueEarth Florida is available now via Orbx Central and the in-sim Marketplace for $39.95 AUD, with a discounted upgrade path for owners of the legacy FSX/P3D version. A free compatibility patch for MSFS 2020 is also in the works.
