Orbx has launched TrueEarth Florida for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, covering the entire state with 1,200 custom landmarks and 60cm/pixel aerial imagery. The package includes detailed renditions of KTPA, KMCO, and KFLL, plus improved water masking for the Florida Keys.
Orbx Simulation Systems has released TrueEarth Florida for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, marking the first TrueEarth product built natively for the new platform. The package covers the entire state of Florida with 60cm/pixel aerial imagery, 1,200 custom landmarks, and detailed renditions of key airports including Tampa International (KTPA), Orlando International (KMCO), and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (KFLL). The scenery also includes improved water masking for the Florida Keys, with accurate coral reef textures and coastal blending.
According to Orbx, the product leverages MSFS 2024's new terrain and water rendering capabilities to deliver more realistic coastlines and inland lakes. The team has also added custom night lighting for major cities like Miami, Orlando, and Tampa, with dynamic lighting that responds to the sim's time-of-day system. Performance has been optimized through the use of LODs and texture streaming, with the developers claiming minimal impact on frame rates compared to default scenery.
For pilots who frequently fly in the region, TrueEarth Florida offers a significant upgrade over the default MSFS 2024 scenery. The improved water masking is particularly notable for approaches into Key West (KEYW) and Marathon (KMTH), where the default textures often appear unnatural. The package also includes custom buildings for notable landmarks such as the Kennedy Space Center and the Daytona International Speedway.
TrueEarth Florida is available now from the Orbx store for $39.99 AUD, with a special introductory price of $29.99 AUD until October 19. Existing owners of the P3D version are eligible for a crossgrade discount.
