Orbx Simulation Systems has released TrueEarth EU Great Britain for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, featuring updated photogrammetry and hand-crafted landmarks. The scenery spans over 200,000 square kilometers.
Orbx Simulation Systems has launched TrueEarth EU Great Britain for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, marking the first TrueEarth product specifically designed for the new simulator. The package covers England, Scotland, and Wales with a resolution of 1 meter per pixel, utilizing MSFS 2024's enhanced photogrammetry and improved terrain streaming. According to Orbx, the scenery includes over 500 hand-placed landmarks, including castles, cathedrals, and iconic structures such as the Angel of the North and the Forth Bridge.
The development team has also focused on blending the new scenery with the default MSFS 2024 terrain, ensuring seamless transitions at the coastlines and national borders. "We've leveraged the new sim's ability to stream higher-resolution data, resulting in more detailed urban areas and natural features," said an Orbx representative. The package includes custom night lighting, accurate road networks, and improved vegetation placement.
Performance has been a key consideration. Orbx claims that TrueEarth EU Great Britain has been optimized to run smoothly even in dense areas like London, thanks to careful LOD management and texture compression. Early user reports suggest that the scenery maintains acceptable frame rates on high-end systems, though some have noted increased VRAM usage.
TrueEarth EU Great Britain is available now from Orbx Direct for $39.99 AUD (approximately $26 USD). Existing owners of the MSFS 2020 version are eligible for a discounted upgrade price of $19.99 AUD. This release is significant as it demonstrates how developers are embracing MSFS 2024's capabilities to deliver more immersive VFR experiences.
