Orbx has released 'Pacific Northwest Reimagined' for MSFS 2024, featuring 4K photoreal coverage from Vancouver to Seattle, with handcrafted airports like KSEA and CYVR, and full compatibility with seasonal changes.
Orbx Simulation Systems has unveiled 'Pacific Northwest Reimagined', a comprehensive scenery package for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 that covers the region from Vancouver (CYVR) to Seattle (KSEA) and beyond. The package includes 4K photoreal terrain, with improved color correction and mesh that accurately represents the rugged coastline of the Pacific Northwest. Orbx has also handcrafted six airports, including the aforementioned KSEA and CYVR, as well as KPAE (Everett), KBLI (Bellingham), KPDX (Portland), and CYXX (Abbotsford). Each airport features detailed terminal buildings, ground markings, and dynamic lighting that reacts to weather and time of day.
One of the standout features is the integration with MSFS 2024's seasonal system. The scenery automatically reflects autumn foliage in October, snow-covered peaks in winter, and lush greens in spring. Orbx has also implemented a new 'Ridge and Valley' wind effect that adds realistic turbulence in mountainous areas, a boon for VFR pilots flying through the Cascades. The package is available now on Orbx Central for $49.99, with a free trial version covering a small area.
Initial reviews have praised the level of detail, particularly the accurate representation of the Puget Sound waterways and the San Juan Islands. However, some users have noted a significant performance hit on mid-range systems, though Orbx has released a performance guide to mitigate this. For simmers who love the Pacific Northwest, this is a must-have addition to their virtual hangar.
