Orbx has revealed TrueEarth Great Britain South for X-Plane 12, featuring high-resolution orthoimagery, custom landmarks, and enhanced autogen. The scenery covers London, the South East, and the West Country, with updated mesh and water masking.
Orbx has announced TrueEarth Great Britain South for X-Plane 12, the latest in their popular TrueEarth series. This scenery package covers the southern half of England and Wales, including major airports such as Heathrow (EGLL), Gatwick (EGKK), and Bristol (EGGD). It features high-resolution orthoimagery at 1m/pixel, custom landmarks like the London Eye and Tower Bridge, and enhanced autogen that accurately reflects the region's architecture. The mesh has been updated to include accurate elevation data, improving the depiction of hills and valleys.
The package also includes water masking for rivers and lakes, and improved night lighting that matches real-world light pollution. Orbx has worked closely with local experts to ensure accuracy, and the scenery is compatible with other Orbx products such as London City Airport and Southampton. For X-Plane 12 users, this is a significant upgrade over the default scenery, offering a more immersive experience when flying VFR or IFR in the region.
TrueEarth Great Britain South is expected to release in Q4 2026, priced at $49.99 AUD. It will be available through Orbx Direct and Orbx Central. System requirements include a recommended 8GB VRAM and 50GB of disk space. Orbx has also hinted at a Central and North version to follow in 2027, completing the coverage of the UK. This announcement follows the successful release of TrueEarth Florida for X-Plane 12 earlier this year.
