Orbx has revealed TrueEarth Great Britain South for MSFS 2024, featuring high-resolution aerial imagery, custom autogen, and detailed landmarks across southern England and Wales. The package promises unprecedented VFR realism with 1m/pixel imagery.
Orbx Simulation Systems has announced TrueEarth Great Britain South for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the latest entry in its acclaimed TrueEarth series. Covering southern England, including London, the Home Counties, and South Wales, the package utilizes 1-meter per pixel aerial imagery and custom autogen to deliver a highly detailed VFR experience. This release is optimized for MSFS 2024's new rendering engine, offering improved performance and visual fidelity.
The scenery includes numerous custom landmarks, such as iconic London structures, castles, and cathedrals, all modeled with PBR materials. Orbx has also incorporated accurate vegetation placement and updated road networks. The package features enhanced night lighting, with dynamic emissive textures for urban areas and correct light bloom. Additionally, the developer has worked closely with Asobo to ensure seamless integration with the simulator's default photogrammetry and terrain.
TrueEarth Great Britain South is expected to be available in early December 2026, priced at $39.95 AUD. Owners of the MSFS 2020 version will be eligible for a discount. Orbx has stated that the product will be compatible with the upcoming World Update for the UK and Ireland, ensuring no conflicts. The announcement comes as Orbx continues to expand its TrueEarth lineup, with other regions in development.
Community reaction has been positive, with many praising the level of detail and the commitment to optimizing for the new simulator. However, some users have raised concerns about the file size, which is expected to be around 80GB. Orbx has confirmed that a download manager will be provided and that the scenery will be streamed if purchased through the Marketplace.
