Orbx has revealed TrueEarth Great Britain South for MSFS 2024, offering 1-meter orthoimagery, custom landmarks, and enhanced vegetation. The scenery covers London and the South East, with improved performance and compatibility.
Orbx Simulation Systems has announced TrueEarth Great Britain South for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the latest in its popular TrueEarth series. The scenery covers the southern portion of England, including London, the Home Counties, and the South Coast, and features 1-meter resolution orthoimagery sourced from recent aerial surveys. Orbx has also included custom landmark models for major points of interest, such as the London Eye, the Shard, and Windsor Castle, all with PBR textures and night lighting.
One of the key improvements in this version is the use of MSFS 2024's new terrain and vegetation systems. Orbx has leveraged the simulator's improved autogen to create more accurate woodland and farmland, and has added custom vegetation models for native tree species. The scenery also includes hand-placed buildings for major airports, including Heathrow (EGLL), Gatwick (EGKK), and Southampton (EGHI), ensuring seamless integration with default and third-party airport add-ons.
Performance has been a major focus, with Orbx optimizing the scenery for both high-end and mid-range hardware. The package includes multiple configuration options, allowing users to adjust the density of autogen and details to suit their system. Orbx has also confirmed that the scenery will be compatible with the upcoming MSFS 2024 World Update for the United Kingdom, which is expected to further enhance the default terrain.
TrueEarth Great Britain South is scheduled for release in December, priced at $34.99. Orbx has also announced that TrueEarth Great Britain North will follow in early 2027, covering Scotland and the North of England. The company has also hinted at a complete bundle for the entire UK, which will offer a discount for users who purchase both packages.
