Orbx Simulation Systems has revealed TrueEarth Great Britain South for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, covering the southeastern UK with 1-meter orthoimagery, custom landmarks, and enhanced autogen. The package aims to deliver unprecedented VFR realism for the region.
Orbx Simulation Systems has officially announced TrueEarth Great Britain South for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the latest in its acclaimed TrueEarth series. This package covers the entirety of southeastern England, from Cornwall to Norfolk, including London and the Home Counties. It utilizes 1-meter per pixel orthoimagery sourced from recent satellite data, resulting in stunning visual fidelity for VFR flights. The scenery also includes custom 3D models of notable landmarks such as the London Eye, Tower Bridge, and Stonehenge, all with PBR materials.
In addition to the ortho, Orbx has completely reworked the autogen and vegetation to match the UK's unique landscape. Expect accurate hedgerows, stone walls, and woodlands, along with improved night lighting that mimics the real-world light pollution patterns. The package also includes enhanced water masking for rivers and lakes, and custom mesh to better represent the rolling hills of the South Downs and Chilterns.
For airliner simmers, the major airports within the coverage area—Heathrow (EGLL), Gatwick (EGLL), and Southampton (EGHI)—are not included but are available separately from developers like Aerosoft and FSDreamTeam. However, the improved ground textures and autogen make approaches into these airports far more immersive. Orbx has also confirmed that TrueEarth Great Britain North will follow in early 2027.
TrueEarth Great Britain South is priced at $44.99 AUD and is available now via Orbx Central. Existing owners of the P3D version are eligible for a discount. System requirements are moderate, but Orbx recommends at least 8GB VRAM for optimal performance. This release sets a new benchmark for UK scenery in MSFS 2024.
