Orbx has unveiled TrueEarth GB South for MSFS 2024, covering London, the South East, and the West Country with 60cm/pixel aerial imagery, custom landmarks, and hand-placed vegetation. The package includes enhanced night lighting and updated airport ground textures at Gatwick and Heathrow.
Orbx Simulation Systems has announced TrueEarth GB South for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the latest entry in its long-running photorealistic scenery series. The package covers southern England and Wales, from Land's End to the Thames Estuary, using 60cm/pixel aerial imagery color-corrected for MSFS 2024's updated rendering pipeline. Orbx claims the imagery set is new, not a port of the Prepar3D version.
Key features include custom 3D landmarks for central London, Brighton Pier, and the Clifton Suspension Bridge, plus hand-placed vegetation and improved autogen blending along the M4 and M25 corridors. Airport ground textures at EGLL, EGKK, and EGGW have been updated to match current layouts, and the package includes enhanced night lighting with emissive road networks. Orbx notes that the scenery is compatible with third-party airports such as Flightbeam's EGLL and FSDT's EGKK, with exclusion polygons provided.
Performance is a stated priority: the developer has optimized LODs for MSFS 2024's new memory management, and the package ships with a config tool to adjust texture resolution for lower VRAM cards. TrueEarth GB South is expected to release in Q4 2026, priced at AUD 49.95, with a discount for owners of the P3D version.
For UK-based virtual pilots flying VATSIM's London Control and Heathrow Director positions, this fills a long-standing gap in high-fidelity VFR and low-level IFR scenery. Orbx has confirmed that TrueEarth GB North and Central will follow in 2027.
