Orbx has announced a photogrammetry-enhanced rendition of a major European hub, while Drzewiecki Design confirms Warsaw Chopin (EPWA) and a Polish city pack are inbound for MSFS 2024.
Orbx Simulation Systems has announced a new large-scale European airport project for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, built on the platform's updated photogrammetry pipeline and featuring hand-crafted terminal interiors, animated jetways with realistic docking behavior, and fully modeled apron lighting for night operations. The developer has emphasized ground-level detail — FOD, tire marks, and realistic texture wear — a signature of its recent releases. For simmers flying PMDG or Fenix airliners on VATSIM, apron fidelity is often the difference between a believable turnaround and a sterile one.
Drzewiecki Design has confirmed that Warsaw Chopin (EPWA) is progressing toward release for MSFS 2024, alongside a broader Polish city and landmark pack. EPWA is a well-known European destination and a frequent target for study-level operations, with its distinctive terminal layout and challenging taxi routing. Drzewiecki's previous work on Warsaw and other Polish airports has set a high bar for regional authenticity, and the MSFS 2024 version is expected to leverage the sim's improved lighting and material rendering.
On the X-Plane 12 side, developers continue to fill gaps in coverage, with new European and North American airports arriving steadily. The platform's scenery ecosystem remains smaller than MSFS's, but the quality of top-tier releases — particularly from developers like Flightbeam Studios and FSDreamTeam — remains competitive, especially for simmers who prioritize frame-rate consistency over photogrammetry.
Aerosoft, LatinVFR, and Gaya Simulations are also active, with LatinVFR continuing its run of Caribbean and Latin American airports and Gaya focusing on European destinations. For scenery collectors, the next few months look dense — and increasingly aligned with the study-level aircraft that define the hobby's high end.
