Navigraph's latest Charts update introduces a Route Advisor that suggests SID/STAR pairings based on real-world traffic flows, plus taxiway hotspot alerts in selected airports. The update also refines SimBrief integration with better wind data.

Navigraph has rolled out Charts 9.2, a significant update that brings two features long requested by the community: Route Advisor and Taxiway Hotspot Warnings. Route Advisor analyzes historical flight plan data and current winds aloft to suggest optimal SID/STAR combinations for a given city pair. It's not meant to replace SimBrief's core routing engine but rather to offer a quick reference during preflight, particularly useful for VATSIM events where preferred routings are enforced. The taxiway hotspot alerts, initially covering 40 major airports including KLAX, EGLL, and RJTT, display caution areas directly on the airport diagram, highlighting intersections with a history of runway incursions.

The update also improves SimBrief integration, now pulling the latest wind aloft data from the NOAA GFS model every hour instead of every six. For long-haul flights, this can shave several minutes off the fuel planning by more accurately predicting step climbs. Charts 9.2 is available now for all Navigraph subscribers on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Existing subscribers can update via the Navigraph Navdata Center or the respective app stores.

For simmers flying on IVAO or VATSIM, the Route Advisor can be configured to respect preferred routing rules for specific ARTCCs or FIRs, reducing the chance of a full-route clearance amendment. Navigraph notes that the hotspot database will expand monthly, with user-submitted reports being reviewed by their aeronautical team. The company also hinted at future integration with PMDG's EFB and Fenix's A320, though no timeline was given.
