Navigraph has revealed a comprehensive update to SimBrief, integrating real-time weather from Meteoblue and introducing an AI-assisted route optimizer. The new features aim to provide more accurate fuel predictions and adaptive routing for both airliners and GA aircraft.
Navigraph has unveiled the most significant SimBrief update in years, adding real-time weather integration and an AI-driven flight planning assistant. The new weather engine, powered by Meteoblue, feeds current winds aloft, temperatures, and convective activity directly into the flight planning algorithm, resulting in more accurate fuel burn estimates and ETAs. This is a game-changer for virtual airlines and serious simmers who rely on precise payload and fuel calculations.
The AI-assisted route optimizer, dubbed 'SimBrief IQ', learns from thousands of real-world flight plans to suggest alternates, avoiding known turbulence hotspots and optimizing for cost index. It can even suggest a different STAR if weather conditions at the destination have changed since the original plan was filed. The update also includes a redesigned interface with better support for MSFS 2024 and X-Plane 12 integration, allowing one-click export of flight plans and fuel data.
Navigraph has confirmed that the update will roll out to all subscribers in stages, starting with the web-based planner, followed by the mobile apps. The company also hinted at a future ‘Navigraph Charts 360’ feature that will overlay real-time weather on approach charts, further blurring the line between simulation and real-world operations. For a community that thrives on authenticity, this update is a welcome leap forward.
