Asobo Studio has released World Update 17 for MSFS 2024, focusing on Northern Europe with upgraded coastlines, improved elevation data, and hand-crafted airports including EGLL and ENGM. The update also adds new photogrammetry cities.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 received its seventeenth World Update today, bringing a substantial overhaul to Northern Europe. The update, now available through the in-sim marketplace, introduces enhanced coastline data for the UK, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, with more accurate shorelines and tidal zones that affect water landings and floatplane operations.
Asobo has also incorporated high-resolution elevation models for the fjords of Norway and the Scottish Highlands, which will please VFR pilots looking for challenging terrain navigation. Four new hand-crafted airports are included: London Heathrow (EGLL), Oslo Gardermoen (ENGM), Stockholm Arlanda (ESSA), and Copenhagen Kastrup (EKCH). Each features detailed terminals, accurate taxiway signage, and updated SID/STAR procedures.
Photogrammetry coverage has been expanded for several Nordic cities, including Bergen and Gothenburg, improving visual fidelity for urban flying. Simmers with the Deluxe edition will get these airports in 4K resolution, while standard users can purchase them individually.
Performance optimizations are also part of this update, particularly for areas with dense autogen trees and water reflections. Early user feedback on the MSFS forums indicates a noticeable frame rate improvement over previous versions. World Update 17 is a must-have for anyone flying in the region, and it sets a high bar for future updates.
