Asobo Studio releases Update 17 for MSFS 2024, overhauling the built-in ATC system with more realistic phraseology and adding customisable ground operations for airliners. The update also includes fixes for the 787-10 and A330neo.
Asobo Studio has deployed Update 17 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, a substantial patch that focuses on two areas long requested by the community: ATC and ground operations. The default ATC now features revised phraseology that aligns more closely with real-world procedures, including proper use of waypoints and altitude assignments on SID/STAR transitions. Pilots will notice improved vectoring for ILS approaches and more realistic hold instructions when the traffic is heavy.
Ground operations have been expanded with a new pushback control window that allows pilots to set custom pushback routes using the aircraft's tiller and tiller input. This is a boon for those who prefer to handle their own ground handling, especially in complex gates at airports like Amsterdam (EHAM) or Atlanta (KATL). The update also adds a new 'ground power unit' option that can be connected via the aircraft's external power panel, adding another layer of immersion.
Performance optimisations in this update reduce stuttering when panning around the cockpit in the 787-10 and A330neo, and several avionics bugs have been fixed. The update is available now via the in-sim marketplace and the Microsoft Store. Third-party developers like iniBuilds and Fenix Simulations have already confirmed compatibility, and further enhancements to the ATC system are planned for the next major update.
