Asobo Studio has opened the beta for Sim Update 15, introducing a revamped ATC system with voice recognition support for VATSIM, plus new default aircraft including the Cessna 172 and an experimental eVTOL. The beta is available now via the MSFS Insider program.
Asobo Studio continues to push the envelope with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and the upcoming Sim Update 15 (tentatively version 1.12.5) is set to bring significant improvements. The headline feature is a complete overhaul of the default ATC system, which now includes voice recognition support for VATSIM and IVAO networks. This means you can speak to controllers using your microphone, and the AI will interpret your commands and responses, making online flying more immersive than ever.
In addition to the ATC improvements, the update introduces several new default aircraft, including a highly detailed Cessna 172 with G1000 avionics and an experimental eVTOL that showcases the sim’s physics capabilities. The Cessna 172 is a welcome addition for flight school enthusiasts, with accurate flight dynamics and a functional autopilot. The eVTOL, on the other hand, is a fun novelty that demonstrates MSFS 2024’s flexibility.
The update also includes a new ground handling model that improves interactions with pushback tugs and ground crew, as well as performance optimizations for VR users. Asobo has been working closely with the community to address feedback, and this update reflects that collaborative effort.
The beta is available now through the MSFS Insider program, and we encourage all simmers to participate. The final release is expected later this fall, and it will be free for all MSFS 2024 owners. This update is a significant step forward for the platform, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.
