Asobo Studio's latest MSFS 2024 beta refines the cloud system and adds interactive precipitation effects, promising a new level of weather realism.
Asobo Studio has released Beta 4 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, focusing heavily on atmospheric physics and weather rendering. The update introduces a revamped cloud model with more accurate cumulonimbus formations and improved volumetric lighting, bringing the simulator closer to real-world meteorological accuracy. Early testers report significant gains in frame rates when flying through overcast layers, thanks to optimized particle systems.
The beta also includes a new interactive precipitation system that dynamically affects runway friction and aircraft performance, a feature that will thrill simmers who rely on accurate crosswind and braking calculations. Asobo has also tweaked the turbulence model to better reflect convective activity near thunderstorms, making IFR flying more challenging and rewarding.
For those interested in testing, Beta 4 is available via the Xbox Insider Hub and Steam beta branches. The full release is expected later this year, and the team promises continued refinement based on community feedback. This update underscores Asobo's commitment to pushing the envelope of real-time weather simulation.
