Just Flight has announced a BAe 146-200 for X-Plane 12, promising a deep simulation of the four-engine regional jet's systems, including a custom FMS based on the Smiths FMS. The aircraft is expected to enter beta testing later this year.
Just Flight has announced its next major project for X-Plane 12: the BAe 146-200, a four-engine regional jet that was a staple of British and European aviation. The developer is known for its meticulous research, and this aircraft promises to be no exception. The package will include both passenger and freighter variants, with accurate performance and handling characteristics derived from real-world data.
The BAe 146 features a unique 'glass cockpit' with an EFIS that predates modern FMS, and Just Flight is recreating this with a custom FMS based on the original Smiths system. This will be a departure from the generic Garmin units found in many add-ons, offering a more authentic flight planning and navigation experience. The aircraft will also include detailed systems for the four Honeywell ALF502 turbofans, including their distinctive high-pitched whine and complex starting procedures.
Visually, the model is expected to feature a high-fidelity exterior with numerous animations, including a functional APU door and detailed landing gear. Just Flight's signature in-house textures will cover a range of 1980s and 1990s liveries, from British Airways to Dan-Air. The company has previously committed to supporting X-Plane 12’s new weather system, so expect dynamic rain and ice effects on the windscreen.
No release date has been confirmed, but the team has stated that the aircraft is in the final stages of development, with beta testing expected to commence in late 2026. This announcement adds to Just Flight's growing X-Plane catalogue, which already includes the Piper Arrow III and the Fokker F28. For fans of classic jetliners, this is one to watch.
